Recording

The band began recording on April 18, 2007, with producers Matt Squire and Paul Leavitt. "Remembering Sunday" features the vocals of Juliet Simms from Automatic Loveletter.

Release

In June 2007, the group went on an acoustic tour alongside Morning Light and Just Surrender. From late June to late August, the band went on the 2007 edition of Warped Tour. On July 3, "Dear Maria, Count Me In" was made available for streaming via Alternative Press. On July 24, 2007 "Dear Maria, Count Me In" was available on iTunes. It was available for pre-order on September 18. The album was released on September 25 through Hopeless Records. The group supported Boys Like Girls on their US headlining tour, dubbed Tourzilla, from late September to late November.

"Six Feet Under the Stars" was the first single from the album, with "Dear Maria, Count Me In" the second. "Dear Maria, Count Me In" was released to radio on May 6, 2008. The album's third single, "Poppin' Champagne", was released on August 8, 2008, along with a music video. The song was renamed for its single release because the band members were underage at the time. A deluxe edition of the album was released through iTunes on July 29, 2008.

Reception

In its first week the album sold 14,200 copies. As of July 12, 2008 it sold around 105,000 copies in the U.S. "Dear Maria, Count Me In" was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2015 for 1 million shipments, despite it never receiving commercial radio play.

The album was included at number 10 on Rock Sound's "The 51 Most Essential Pop Punk Albums of All Time" list. BuzzFeed included the album at number 34 on their "36 Pop Punk Albums You Need To Hear Before You F——ing Die" list.
