Snowflakes is the fourth studio album and first Christmas album by American singer Toni Braxton, released on October 23, 2001 by Arista Records. Shaggy features as the only collaboration on the album. The album was preceded by two singles "Snowflakes of Love" and "Christmas in Jamaica".

Background

Along with the traditional Christmas songs "The Christmas Song" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and a cover of Vince Guaraldi's 1962 song "Christmas Time Is Here", the album contains original songs which focus not only on Christmas, but also on love. Braxton was newly married and expecting her first child while making the album.

Singles

"Snowflakes of Love" was released as the lead single from the album in 2001. The song charted at number twenty-five on the Adult Contemporary chart on January 5, 2002.

"Christmas in Jamaica" featuring Shaggy was released as the second and final single in 2001. The song charted at number three on the Billboard Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart.

Commercial performance

In the United States, the album peaked at number one-hundred and nineteen on the Billboard Hot 200 album chart in it's fifth week on chart. The album also charted at number fifty-seven on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number thirteen on the Top Holiday Albums chart. The album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over 500,000 copies on November 28, 2001.

In Europe, the album debuted in Germany and at number ninety-two on the German Album Charts making it the only country in Europe outside of the United States to chart.
