Smithstone (Scots: Smeeston) is an area of Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire. The area was originally a farm of the same name and was up until recently when North Lanarkshire Council sold off the land to developers for housing and it is now anticipated that up to 700+ houses will be built in the area. In late 2005 a new road from Smithstone Road to Constarry Road outside Croy, was opened, providing a link to the separate housing estates of the area.
