Sion Aled Owen is a Welsh politician and member of Plaid Cymru. He stood for the Wrexham constituency in the National Assembly for Wales election, 2007.
Sion Aled Owen was born in Bangor and now lives in Wrexham (Wrecsam). He was educated at David Hughes County Secondary School, Menai Bridge and later achieved a BA in Welsh at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
Sion Aled Owen then studied at Trinity College, Bristol and later achieved a Ph.D in Theology at the University of Birmingham.
Currently a Welsh language tutor and freelance translator, he has worked as an academic researcher at the National Library, a lecturer in practical theology, and was associate Minister of Melbourne Welsh Church, Australia.
Sion Aled Owen's political interests include civil liberties and transport. He is also a distinguished poet, and won the National Eisteddfod Crown in 1981, under the name Sion Aled.
