Singheshwar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: सिंघेश्वर विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Madhepura district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is reserved for scheduled castes from 2010. Earlier, it was an open seat.

Overview

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 72 Singheshwar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (SC) is composed of the following: Singheshwar, Shankarpur and Kumarkhand community development blocks.

Singheshwar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 8 Supaul (Lok Sabha constituency) from 2010.It was earlier part of Madhepura (Lok Sabha constituency).

1977-2010

In the 2010 state assembly elections, Ramesh Rishidev of JD(U) won the Singheshwar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Amit Kumar Bharti of RJD. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Rameshwar Prasad Yadav of JD(U) defeated Arvind Kumar of RJD in October 2005 and Dinesh Kumar Yadav of RJD in February 2005. Vijay Kumar Singh of RJD defeated Upendra Narayan Yadav of JD(U) in 2000. Bam Bhola Yadav of JD defeated Dinesh Kumar Yadav of Congress in 1995. Rajesh Ranjan, Independent, defeated Sita Ram Prasad Yadav in 1990. Ramendra Kumar Yadav Ravi of LD defeated Anant Kumar Singh of Congress in 1985. Jai Kumar Singh of Janata Party (Secular – Charan Sngh) defeated Ram Krishna Yadav of Congress in 1980. Dinbandhu Prasad Yadav defeated Jai Kumar Singh of Congress in 1977.
