suitable for dissimilar ropes, works well with synthetic ropes.

The simple Simon under bend is a knot belonging to the category bend. It was invented by Harry Asher. It is more secure than the similar simple Simon over. The difference is just which of the green ends in the image below is the standing end.

The simple Simon under holds well even with different sized ropes, or slippery synthetic ropes.

Instructions

Be careful when tying this knots, as it is a mirror image to a simple Simon over knot, which is not secure. Make sure that end of rope in which tension will be applied is on top, because if it is underneath it will slip easily. It is worth noting that the tail end of this knot is not secure, as tension on the tail end of this knot would make it a simple Simon over knot.
