Simorgh Alborz is a football team in Afghanistan. They play in the Afghan Premier League. It was founded in August 2012 by the creation of the Afghan Premier League and its players have been chosen through a casting-show called Maidon-E-Sabz (Green Field). The team represent the Balkh area which is the North Western region of Afghanistan. However's its support base extends throughout those provinces located in the North of Afghanistan. These provinces are in the shadow of the Alborz mountain range which commences here and stretches westwards all the way to the Caspian Sea. They have claimed both Runners Up positions in the two years of the Afghan Premier League, losing 2–1 to Toofan and 3–1 to Shaheen.

The Simorgh is the mythical creature – a large, graceful, winged bird – which is referred to in many famous poems. It is a benevolent, wise and loving creature but is also capable of making great sacrifices. In the Shahnameh, Zal, the son of Saam,, is rescued after being abandoned at the Alborz mountain by the simorgh that lives at the peak of this mountain. The simorgh is also mentioned in many other poetry including Fariddun Attar's ‘Conference of the Birds’, where the hoopoe leads a group of thirty birds in search of the simorgh.

The Simorgh Alborz football team represent one of the most ancient and historic part of Afghanistan and hope to bring glory to its representative provinces. They believe the natural resting place for the Roshan APL Cup is in the foot of the Alorz mountains.
