As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 9. Sikta (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Mainatanr and Sikta community development block; and Barawa Barauli, Somgarh and Bhavta gram panchayats of Narkatiaganj CD Block.

In the November 2010 state assembly elections, Dilip Verma, Independent, won the 9 Sikta assembly seat defeating Khushid Urf Firoz Ahamad of JD(U) and sixteen other candidates.Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Dilip Verma representing SP defeated Krishna Prasad of BJP in October 2005. Dilip Verma of SP defeated Khurshid Alam Alis Firoz Alam, Independent, in February 2005.
