Sigmund Suskind


Sigmund Richard Suskind was a microbiologist. He served as dean of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University from 1978 to 1983. He died on December 5, 2006 aged 80. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann, their three sons, and two grandchildren. A memorial service was held for him on Dec. 8 2006.

Suskind also co-authored/edited a book on the topic of genetics, Mechanics of Inheritance, published by Prentice Hall in 1969. He commented on cheating in colleges in a TIME article published in 1976, saying ""Cheating is not endemic, it's epidemic. My colleagues all over agree."
