Shikotan District, Hokkaido

Shikotan (色丹郡, Shikotan-gun) is a nominal district that is part of Nemuro Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. It covers Shikotan Island, which is claimed by Japan and Russia. As of August 15, 1945, it had a population of 1,038. Although claimed by Japan, it is de facto administered by Russia.
