It was originally built as the Hotel Dorobanti in 1976, but was gutted and rebuilt in 2001 as the Howard Johnson Grand Plaza Hotel Bucharest. It was renamed the Sheraton Bucharest Hotel on August 28, 2015.
It is occasionally difficult to contact guests residing in this hotel as the front desk often will not answer calls to their switchboard (+40-21-201-5000).
