Hanuman Gurhie Ayodhya Incident, 28th July, 1855: Root Cause of Babari Masjid Dispute

Sher Singh (born 3 December 1946) is an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), noted for his research on the Mughal emperor Babar (also Babur).

The Book

Sher Singh's book The Secular Emperor Babar, co-authored with Surinder Kaur and Tapan Sanyal in 3 volumes, presented Babar as a tolerant figure, contrary to the conventional view of Babar as an intolerant fanatic. It suggested that Babar was a secular figure, and that the Babri Mosque at Ayodhya had been constructed sixteen years before Babar was born. The mosque was destroyed in 1992.
