Marsh Dwellers of the Euphrates Delta

Salim is best known for his groundbreaking ethnographic work, Marsh Dwellers of the Euphrates Delta, submitted as his doctoral thesis in University College, London (1955), first published in Arabic in Baghdad in two volumes (1956-1957), and subsequently published in English as number 23 in the series London School of Economics Monographs on Social Anthropology (London: Athlone Press, 1962). This was an anthropological report on a year spent among the Marsh Arabs of Ech-Chibayish, Iraq, in 1953.
