Seth andrews the insanity of humanity
Seth Andrew is the founder of Democracy Prep Public Schools, a K-12 network of high-achieving public charter schools based in Harlem, NY. Since its creation in 2005, Democracy Prep has grown to serve more than 5,000 students with an operating budget of more than 100 million dollars. The network has been the subject of significant academic research due to its emphasis on civic engagement and unique financial model that relies exclusively on public dollars.
Andrew started his career as a public school teacher in South Korea and South Africa before becoming a special education administrator in Massachusetts. A serial entrepreneur, he has been on the founding team of organizations including Polaris Project, Democracy Builders, and Washington Leadership Academy.
He has an A.B. from Brown University and an Ed.M in school leadership and school development from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Andrew has served as senior advisor and superintendent-in-residence at the U.S. Department of Education and is currently a senior advisor in the Office of Education Technology at the White House.
