The Serie del Rey is the annual championship series of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol, played between the Zona Sur and the Zona Norte champions since 1970 (Before the winning team was the one that one most of the games in a Round Robin format.) It is called the Serie del Rey, which means King Series, because baseball is referred to as the king of sports. The winning team is determined by a best-of-seven playoff and awarded the Copa de Zaachila.

The Diablos Rojos del México of the Zona Norte have played in 32 series and won 15, the Quintana Roo Tigres have played in 16 and won 10, and the Sultanes de Monterrey have played in 15 and won 9. In the Zona Sur, while the Rojos del Águila de Veracruz have appeared in 9 and won 5.
