  • Ken Kutaragi reveals that contrary to previous announcements, HDMI will be included in all Japanese versions of the PlayStation 3. Also, the low-end model will retail not for 59,800¥ ($515) but for 49,980¥ ($429).

  • Opera Software announces that the Internet Channel will be free of charge for all Wii users until June 2007. After that, the browser will be available for purchase from the Wii Shop Channel.

  • The Truth in Video Game Rating Act is proposed by Senator Sam Brownback. The act would require the ESRB to have access to the full content of and hands-on time with the games it was to rate, rather than simply relying on the video demonstrations submitted by developers and publishers.
  • Microsoft Game Studios announces that Peter Jackson will develop a pair of new series exclusively for the Xbox 360. Jackson's Wingnut Interactive will work with Bungie Studios to co-create a completely new and original chapter in the Halo series.
