Sehome is a neighborhood in Bellingham, Washington. The neighborhood, named after Chief Sehome (S-yah-whom), first platted in 1858, by E.C. Fitzhugh, was originally a town owned by the Bellingham Bay & British Columbia Railroad Company "Bellingham Bay Coal Mine", later named "Sehome Coal Mine", (incorporated on July 16, 1888). The name comes from S'Klallam language,S-yah-whom, the name of an early Indian in the area.
