Scythris empetrella

Scythris empetrella is a moth of the Scythrididae family. It was described by Karsholt & Nielsen in 1976. It is found in Great Britain, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Lithuania. The habitat consists of sandy heathlands.

The wingspan is 8–10 mm. Adults are on wing from June to July.

The larvae feed on Empetrum, Calluna and Erica species. They form a silken tube containing grains of sand near the base of the foodplant. The tube extends into the sand.
