Manufacturer Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus Designer Manifattura Automobili Torino |
The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 003C is a limited edition sports car manufactured by Manifattura Automobili Torino. In order to avoid the rigorous US crash test and airbag requirements, SCG plans to sell the car in the US as a kit to be assembled by the buyer under State Custom/Homebuilt Laws. While Custom/Homebuilt cars do not need to adhere to the same crash test and airbag standards, they do still need to comply with emissions regulations in The State that they are registered in. SCG says that their 4.4 Litre V8 engine will meet all such regulations and still produce roughly 800 horsepower and 850 lb.-ft. of torque.
The SCG 003 is the third car commissioned by James Glickenhaus, with Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina and P 4/5 Competizione being the first two. Ing. Paolo Garella was project head on all three cars. SCG 003 was launched in 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show.
Variants
SCG plans to produce three varieties of SCG 003, all with the same chassis. The bodies and wings will differ.
The car that competed at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring is the 003C, "Competizione" spec. It would come ready-to-race with a series-approved engine, a Hewland racing gearbox and a race wing. At the other end of the spectrum will be 003 Stradale (003S). It will be more luxurious, having a more comfortable interior and street friendly aerodynamic features. The middle trim package of the three-car lineup will be called the 003CS, "Competizione Stradale," . It will have only a minimum number of allowances made in order to make it road legal.
