Scotch hands

Scotch hands (also known as butter beaters or butter pats) are large wooden spatulas used when making butter. They are used for shaping the butter into bricks and for other miscellaneous manipulation. One side of the paddle will have ribs or be fluted. The highest quality Scotch hands are made out of sycamore wood, but they can also be made out of metal.

They can be found in ethnographic museums.
