Schexnayder may refer to;

  • Calvin Schexnayder - American arena football player
  • Clay Schexnayder - Louisiana politician
  • Maurice Schexnayder - (1895–1981) American Roman Catholic prelate
  • Origin

    The first documented Schexnayder in Louisiana, and probably in the United States, is Henri Albert Schexnayder. Records about his family are in Conrad's book. The baptism of four of his children (Catherine, Jean George, Jean Henry and Marie Lucie) are recorded in the New Orleans Catholic Church records (Woods, p 238).

    Henry's first wife was Marie Magdelaine Wich. Their eleven children were: Andre, Adam, Jean Henry, Catherine, Ambroise, Marguerite, Julienne, Josette, Marie Lucie, Jean George and Jean Baptist. Marie Lucie died as an infant (Woods, p 238). Henry's second wife was Marianne Adelmeyer. Their only child was Epiphanie. The inventory of property recorded after Henry's death list his eleven children (not counting Lucie) (Conrad, p 34, 37-38).
