Sathees Chukkurumbal Raghavan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He hail from Kannur, Kerala. He was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for science and technology, the highest science award in India, for the year 2013 in biological science category. He was awarded the Prize for discovering SCR7, a chemical compound that blocks DNA repair in cancer cells. He secured his BSc in Zoology from Payyannur College, MSc in Zoology from SN College, Kannur and PhD in Biochemistry from Banaras Hindu University, India in 1999, and did Postdoctoral Research in University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA during 1999 − 2006. His main research interests are cancer genetics, genomic instability, DNA repair and recombination.
