Overview

As per orders of the Delimitation Commission, No. 145 Satgachhia (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Bishnupur II CD Block, and Chak Manik, Burul, Gaja-Poyali, Kamrabad, Naskarpur, Rania and Satgachhia gram panchayats of Budge Budge II CD Block.

Satgachia (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 21 Diamond Harbour (Lok Sabha constituency).

2011

In 2011 Sonali Guha of Trinamool Congress defeated her nearest rival Barun Kumar Naskar of CPI(M).

1977-2006

In the 2006 and 2001 state assembly elections, Sonali Guha of Trinamool Cogress won the 117 Satgachia assembly seat defeating her nearest rivals Kabita Kayal and Gokul Bairagi, both of CPI(M), respectively. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Jyoti Basu of CPI(M) defeated Chittaranjan Bag of Congress in 1996, Amar Bhattacharya of Congress in 1991,Sardar Amjad Ali of Congress in 1987,Dinabandhu Bairagi of Congress in 1982 and Jumman Ali Mollah of Congress in 1977.Prior to that the Satgachhia seat did not exist.
