Sara Latife Ruiz Chavez (born 21 October 1976 in Cozumel, Quintana Roo) is a Mexican politician affiliated to the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

Political career

Ruiz Chavez began her political career in her native Cozumel, serving in the public administration of the Municipality of Cozumel; then she served in the cabinets of Joaquin Hendricks and Felix Gonzalez Canto. In 2006 she won a seat in the lower house of Congress to serve during the LX Legislature, representing Quintana Roo's First District.

In 2007 she ran for General Secretary of the National Executive Council (2nd most important ranking position within the PRI) but lost (she and Enrique Jackson) to Beatriz Paredes.
