Sara Harris is a 2015 3M National Teaching Fellow and Professor of Teaching in the department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of British Columbia. In 2015, she won the 3M National Teaching Award for her MOOC on climate change.

Biography

Harris obtained her PhD in Oceanography from Oregon State University in 1998. From 1998 to 2005, she served as the chief scientist at the Sea Education Association in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. In this role, she would take students out to sea for six weeks to teach methodologies for collecting oceanographic data as well as navigation and sailing. As a Professor of Teaching at the University of British Columbia, she studies evidence-based science education and how people learn climate science. She currently teaches a MOOC entitled Climate Change: The Science.
