History

In 1933, Santo Domingo was still known as barrio Dayap, where the first Tiniente del Barrio was appointed by the Municipal President. Upon the enactment of the Barrio Charter in 1959, The position of Barrio Lieutenant was changed to Barrio Captain. It was then that Santo Domingo was named separately from Barrio Dayap. A new set of officials was elected in May 16, 1982 where Gregorio Cruz became the barangay captain from 1986 to 1989. Exequiel Cruz was appointed barangay captain, followed by Atty. Jules Narag who was elected in 1989. During the following election in 1991, the former Barangay Captain Atty. Jules Narag won the seat as Municipal Councilor. Remy Fajardo was consequently appointed as acting Barangay Chairman to take up the remaining term of the predecessor. From 1994 to 2002, Mariano Urbano became the barangay captain. Wilfredo F. Sulit succeeded the chairmanship of the barangay up to a third term.

The end of term for the former Barangay Chairman Wilfredo Sulit paved the way for the succession of his wife Rufina A. Sulit as Barangay Chairwoman of Santo Domingo during the 2013 election. the former Chairwoman assumed the position from December 2013, but was only able to hold the position until March of the following year due to her passing on March 24, 2014.
