HISTORY:

2016: S&P Global Market Intelligence is formed in a strategic move forward as part of the integration of the two previously separate businesses, S&P Capital IQ and SNL Financial.

2015: McGraw Hill Financial acquires SNL Financial for $2.225B.

2011: S&P Capital IQ merges into McGraw Hill Financial. With capabilities fully incorporated with all of S&P’s, the company moved from standalone subsidiary to a McGraw Hill Financial company.

2010: S&P Capital IQ was formed when Capital expanded its offering to include solutions from Standard & Poor’s (S&P), another McGraw Hill Financial company.

2004: Capital IQ sold to McGraw Hill Financial, now S&P Global.

1999: Capital IQ was founded by Neal Goldman, Steve Turner, and Randall Winn. Capital IQ offered financial software, analytics, and data.

1987: SNL Financial, originally named “S&L Securities”, was founded by Reid Nagle in New Jersey, with an initial focus on the savings and loan industry.
