It is a hill with vast open space adjoining it. Daya is the historical river where Kalinga war was fought. It is the eye witness of change of Ashok from Chadasoka to Dharamasoka. Adjacent to this after three or four places, the district of Jagannath Dham, Puri starts. Samantarapur was named by the samantarays living here in 1850s.
