Sakraba (also, Sukraba) is a village of the Chakhesang tribe located in the Phek district in Nagaland. The people of Sakraba speaks chokri dialect.

Ethnically, Sakraba is a chokri village. It is bounded by Zanubou range in the north, Gidemi and Pholami villages in the east, Chizami village in the south and Porba village in the west. Endangered bird, Tragopan, is found in Zanubou range. Apart from varieties of flora and fauna, medicinal plants like ginseng is also found here.

It has a total area of 22.5 km2 under its occupation. The village is situated at an altitude of 1780 meters above sea level. According to 2006 census, it has a population of 1570, population density of 69.78 per km2. and literacy rate of 88.17%.

Agriculture is the main occupation of the people of this village. Terrace cultivation is the major practice and jhum cultivation is practiced on a small scale. Of late, people have taken interest in horticulture which has become one of the main sources of income. Of all horticultural practices, cardamon plantation is the most popular. The village produce high quality cardamon.

Sakraba village has its established customs and social mores. The village is administered by the village leader through collective leadership. In the administration, a set of rules and laws are conventionally followed till today in spite of the availability of written modern rules and acts being prescribed by the state government.

The village has a zeal to preserve its rich traditional and cultural heritages such as native songs, traditional sports (particularly wrestling) and its festivals. The most important festival of Sakraba is Tukhanye, it is usually celebrated before monsoon. Other festivals include, Sukhrunye, Tulunye, Khilunye (..more info needed).

During the early 1960s when the Indo-Naga conflict reached its tantamount the common men suffered the most. Thus under the initiatives of NBCC, a peace mission was formed led by Mr. BP chief minister, government of ASSAM, Rev. Micheal Scott, Mission South Africa famous of International peacemaking and Mr. Indian freedom fighter and for restoration of peace in Nagaland. under this mission the first Ceasefire between the Federal Government of Nagaland and the Indian government was signed at this village on 24 May 1964. In memory of this historical event, a building had been built by the government of Nagaland in 1982 known as “Peace Memorial Building”. In honor of this, a private school has been opened called “Peace Centre School” Sakraba.

Its altitude is 4440 mt above sea level. It is the place where the peace treaty was signed between the Naga Headhunters and the British.

The Sakraba Baptist Church celebrated its 50 years of Christianity in the year 2006 at SBC.
