Sainthwar is a well-known and one of the prominent community of Eastern UP . They are mainly concentrated in the districts of Terai region of UP. Agriculture is the main occupation of this community.

The community consists of Big Zaminadars as well as small farmers. Sainthwar be a big land holding community in estern uttar pradesh.The biggest Zamindar of this community is The Raja of Padrauna state. R. P. N. Singh belongs to Padrauna's Sainthwar rulers family.

The biggest debate now a days is sub caste of Kurmi. They do not have marital relation with Kurmi as well but get reservation as sub caste of kurmi. Sainthwar now the most educated community of eastern UP. Sainthwar name comes from ancient word Santhagara. The community consists of ancient ruler dynasties Malla (India), Shakya, Koliya, etc. Some of the clans in the sainthwar kshatriya sangh belongs to the Mahabat Khan's rebel against Jahangir in 1626, who are get settled with the help of Raja Nathu Mall of Majhauli in the gorakhpur.
