Many commercial ships have been named the Iowa in honor of Iowa, the 29th United State state.

  • USS Artemis (ID-2187), a military transport during both World Wars, was named the SS Iowa upon her construction in 1902 by Harland and Wolff.
  • SS Iowa (1920) was built as the SS West Cadron, renamed in 1928, and sank January 12, 1936, killing 34 crew and passengers.
