Rustichelli & Bordini was an Italian progressive rock band from Rome of the Italian progressive rock music scene in the early 1970s. The band, a duo, was formed by Paolo Rustichelli and Carlo Bordini, both coming from a previous experience with the band Cammello Buck (1969). As for Cammello Buck, Paolo Rustichelli was the founder of the duo Rustichelli & Bordini. The duo included Paolo Rustichelli (synths and keyboards) and Carlo Bordini (drums).

After breaking up with success with the crowd and press at Villa Doria Pamphili Festival in 1972, Rustichelli & Bordini released shortly after on RCA Italiana the album Opera Prima (1972), which become an Italian rock progressive cult album. With Paolo Rustichelli playing Hammond C3, Mellotron, Minimoog and Arp 2600 monophonic synth and Carlo Bordini on drums. The duo was also known for the peculiar and unique 'duo' formation. Composed by Paolo Rustichelli, differently from the cliche' 'concept album' typical of the 70' time, 'Opera Prima' is composed by several rock-progressive and cinematic songs, which created a differentiated style compared to the typical rock progressive 'concept album'. The song of the album 'E svegliarsi in un giorno' was also re-recorded as 'To wake up in the morning' and inserted in movie scores by Paolo Rustichelli. Further tracks like 'Cammellandia' were used by popular brands for TV. pubblicity. Some critic consider the album 'Opera Prima' a rock progressive masterpiece. In 1974 after the duo toured in Italy with strong success preparing material for the next album, Paolo Rustichelli started in scoring for movies as a full-time job, and the duo was no more active.

The duo Rustichelli & Bordini and the album "Opera Prima", through time, has reached a status of a cult band for a niche of progressive rock fans worldwide, especially in the U.S. and Japan.
