Russel Metals Inc. (TSX: RUS) is one of the largest North American suppliers of metal products, with operations across Canada and the United States.
The company was originally established in 1785 by John Russel ( a Scottish immigrant to Canada) as John Russel & Co. The company was formally incorporated in 1916 as Hugh Russel & Sons Ltd. The company started to expand into the United States in 1979, Until 1997 Russell Metals was the owner of the Yukon and White Pass Railroad which shipped freight between Whitehorse, Yukon Territory and Skagway, Alaska.
