  • History

In October 1834, the estate of the notary Jean-Marie Cadieux de Courville (1780-1827) was subdivided and plotted by the surveyor Charles Laurier, into streets which are named after members of the Cadieux family. This particular street is named for one of the daughters of the notary; Rachel(1814-1879). Rachel was the wife of Jean-Baptiste-Chamilly de Lorimier (1808-1865), the younger brother of François-Marie-Thomas Chevalier de Lorimier (1803-1839), who was himself married to Henriette, the sister of the namesake of Rue Rachel.
