Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross

Rudolf Trittel (18 June 1913 – 18 May 1945) was a German Oberstleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. He died on 18 May 1945 in a military hospital at Kastrop-Vordingborg, Denmark of wounds sustained on 26 March 1945 near Allenstein, present-day Olsztyn, Poland.
