Rosita Fornés (born February 11, 1923) is a Cuban singer and film actress.

Early life

She was born February 11, 1923 in Women's Hospital (110th Street and Amsterdam Avenue), New York, United States, but moved to Cuba as a small child. Her parents were Spanish, a Catalan father and a mother from Madrid. Her parents divorced soon after with her mother remarrying when she was around 4 to 5 years old taking the surname Fornés from her step-father. When she was 10 years old the family went to Spain and stayed for three years before returning to Cuba.

She made her stage debut in a musical comedy in 1938, and then appeared in two Cuban films before moving to Mexico where she starred in several films during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema.
Career
In the 1950s her multi-talents made her a leading exponent of the American-Hispanic term of Vedette.
