Rootes Point (60°41′S 45°36′W) is the north entrance point to Starfish Cove on the east side of Signy Island, South Orkney Islands. Named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) in 1990 after David M. Rootes, British Antarctic Survey (BAS) marine assistant at Signy Station, 1977–79; Base Commander, summers 1981-84.
