Ron King (born August 18, 1966) is a hairstylist and radio and television personality with a salon in Austin, Texas. King has been featured on The Rachael Ray Show, KXAN-TV, Your Time with Kim Iverson radio show and appears in a regular segment on The KVUE Insider and is a columnist with Austin Monthly Magazine. He has also been featured in national publications including InStyle and US Weekly. He was the first to be appointed in the Southwest region as a national spokesman and stylist for L'Oreal Professionnel USA. King has worked with celebrities including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Katy Perry, Lance Armstrong, Luke Wilson, Mariska Hargitay, Maria Shriver, Arianna Huffington, Kristin Chenoweth, Owen Wilson, George Lopez, Michael J. Fox, Ann Curry, Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford.

Career

King grew up in the tiny town of Joaquin, Texas. His love of fashion and makeup made High School difficult. He moved to Austin, Texas as a teenager and went on to study hairstyling in Paris, New York and Los Angeles. King opened his first salon in 2005, called Bo Salon, in Austin. In the summer of 2010, he launched his second salon, the Ron King Salon, at Austin's Four Seasons Residences. He is a regular stylist at New York Fashion Week and was a Lead Stylist at the Mercedes-Benz Spring 2011 Fashion Week. King is also the creator of the Ron King Cosmetics line and Ron King Invisi-Tab Hair extensions. In 2014, King partnered with David and Christie Gonzales to create The Ron King Academy, a 10,000-square-foot academy that focuses on cosmetology, esthetics, barbering and learning how to own and operate a beauty salon.

Philanthropy

The Academy of Hair Design in Springfield, Missouri, co-founded by David Gonzales, will be renamed The Ron King Academy. The academy funds the affiliated non-profit school, Dream Beauty Academy, in Rwanda that gives impoverished women cosmetology training. In 2010, King launched The Ron King Foundation that awards cosmetology scholarships to needy teenagers.
