Rohan By Nightfall are an English indie/folk acoustic rock band from a small town called Fobbing in Essex, England. Whilst their name heralds from the epic film trilogy, The Lord Of The Rings, of which the band admit to being huge fans, the inspiration for the name came from a brief spell hiking in the Lake District several years ago. The band is composed of Theo Sanders (vocals, guitars, piano), Adam Drutman (violin, lead guitar), Tim Durden (drums) and Dave Edwards (bass).

History

Originally forming as a high school band back in 2001, playing a handful of shows under the name 'Whiteleech', the band took a short hiatus in 2005 whilst the band members focussed on university life and a naval career. However, after a complete musical reorientation and change in approach, the band decided to reform in early 2008, under the current name 'Rohan By Nightfall'. In August 2008, whilst recording their debut EP (The Oakdene Sessions, Pt 1), the band decided to film a short comedy film depicting Dave being attacked by bees, of which, the motives are unclear.

Following the release of the EP, the band have played numerous shows around southern England, and have gained rapid popularity through several social networking and online websites. In August 2009, the track 'Vitamin C' was selected as a finalist in the Overplay.com PlayRate competition. The EP tracks, 'Vitamin C' and 'Fracture', have also been played on several local and internet radio stations. The band are currently working on material for their second EP, which is due to be recorded in Dec 2009 at Stag Studios in Witham, Essex.
