Rodolfo Valdés Osuna, known as El Gitano (The Gypsy) (ca. 1905 in Aguascaliente, Sinaloa, Mexico – August 29, 1963 in Culiacán, Sinaloa) was a leader in the violent White Guards (Guardias Blancas) organized by large landowners to oppose Mexican President Lázaro Cárdenas's program of land reform. In his state of Sinaloa the White Guards not only threatened and murdered campesinos, but also protected the cultivation and trafficking of opium. During Cárdenas's six years as president, the White Guards were estimated to have murdered 2,000 campesinos.

As a young boy he was always doing bad things in his hometown of Aguascalinte De Garate, Sinaloa. Some of his relatives recall that when women were going to fill up jars of water at the river he would shoot the jar with his sling shot so that the women could get wet.

He entered the drugtrafficking business thanks to his good friend Pedro Aviles. He later became Aviles pistolero (shooter). That is until Aviles was betrayed and killed by a DEA agent. After the death of his other associates "El Culichi" and "El Melon" he became the only leader of Aviles cartel.

By the age of 39, Valdés Osuna was said to have killed 40 persons. He was an expert shot. During his sprees in Mazatlán, he was accustomed to shooting daisies out of the hair of the young women who accompanied him. He was always successful, except for one time when the victim moved as he pulled the trigger.

On February 20, 1944 he assassinated General Rodolfo T. Loaiza, governor of Sinaloa, in the Hotel Belmar in Mazatlan, Sinaloa during the city's carnival festivities. His motive for this crime is not known. Valdés was also accused in the assassination of Pablo Macías Valenzuela, another general who aspired to the governorship. He was tried, but not convicted.

On April 8, 1944 the new president, Manuel Ávila Camacho ordered federal troops to occupy southern Sinaloa. In July they began fighting the White Guards. Valdés Osuna was wounded, and took refuge in a cave. On January 16, 1945 he was captured and was sentenced to 26 years in prison. He was translated to Mazatlán, where a special cell was constructed for him in the military prison. Nevertheless, on May 14, 1949 he escaped.

"El Gitano" had many kids with many women. Two of these kids were Rodolfo Valdes Jr. and Christobal Valdes. One of these two were Edgar Valdes Villareal "La Barbie" dad however it is still unknown which one. Since his grandpa was a drug lord and his dad and uncle were in a drug cartel also we can see why he ended up where he did. It is in this family's blood.

"El Gitano" had a sister named Virginia Lizarraga Valdez however she decided to put distance between her and her brother. She didn't want any of her nine children to get involved with him. But the ninth child was involved in a tempestuous relation with the Indian Philosopher Ashwin Radhakrishnan, who was regarded as a philanderer amongst most circles.
