Brigadier General Robert Campbell Van Vliet (1857 - October 27, 1943) served in the United States Army as the commander of the 87th Division.

Biography

He was born in 1857 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to Stewart Van Vliet and Sarah Jane Brown.

He was commissioned a lieutenant by Ulysses S. Grant in 1876, at age 19. He served as commander of the 87th Division starting on November 13, 1917. He retired in 1918.

He died at the Palma Hotel in New Smyrna, Florida on October 27, 1943.
