Robert Burton, also known as Skip Burton (born November 8, 1946), is an American actor, teacher, and writer. He is an Executive Director at Cushman & Wakefield, previously Senior Vice President at Massey Knakal Realty in New York City. He is the author of the book 7 Days to Your Next Job.

Early life

Burton was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1946. He moved to Carmel, California in 1959 with his mother and younger sister. He studied to be a Roman Catholic priest for his first three years of high school at Ryan Preparatory College in Fresno, California and graduated from Junipero Memorial High School in Monterey, California.

Burton won a full California State scholarship to the University of Santa Clara. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. A member of the National Honor Society, Burton served in the Air National Guard and received the American Spirit Honor Medal.

Career

Burton began his acting career in 1966 where he did his first television commercial with Joe DiMaggio. He has performed on stage, in films, and on television. He is an active member of Actors' Equity Association (AEA), the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). During the 1980s he worked at the Wall Street firm, L.F. Rothschild, Unterberg, Towbin. He began his real estate career in California and entered the commercial real estate market when he joined Massey Knakal in 1997. Burton is presently an Associate Broker and Senior Vice President at Massey Knakal Realty where he has sold over $300 million of real estate. He holds approval as a Real Estate Broker from the New York State Court and is certified as a Real Estate Instructor by the New York State Department of State.

Personal

Burton was selected to play a lead role in the 1974 cult TV movie Trilogy of Terror, while he was married to actress Karen Black. The couple divorced a little more than a year later after the premiere of the film.

He is a member of the Bergen Bassmaster's Tournament Bass Fisherman where he won "Angler of the Year" in 2008. Burton received his private pilot's license through Aero Safety Training Ltd., a Cessna Pilot Center located in Lincoln Park, NJ.
