Rich Music Format (also known as RMF) is a music file format defined by Beatnik. It is a wrapper for audio formats including .wav, .au, .aiff, .mp3 and MIDI. RMF's purpose is to encrypt the data, and to store MIDI together with instrument sounds. RMF is not widely used as of 2009, but is noteworthy from the fact that the reference implementation of the Java Media Framework and JavaSound can play RMF files.
