Richard Hamblin is a senior restaurant professional with wide ranging experience in running fine dining restaurants internationally.

Career

He started his career working for Conran restaurants after leaving University in 1995 working in Zinc, Bluebird Cafe and Mezzo. He left in 1999 to work in Sydney, where he worked at Rockpool, a flagship Neil Perry restaurant.

Richard returned to London in 2000 as part of the management team for D and D formed from Conran Restaurants where he became the Blueprint Cafe manager for 7 years with Jeremy Lee as head chef, Kensington Place manager during takeover of site from Image Restaurants and at Sartoria as relief manager. He went on in 2008 to become the Boundary Restaurant Manager from pre-opening and was promoted to also manage Albion and Rooftop restaurants managing Food and drink turnover in excess of £5mill per annum, responsible for 100+ employees. In 2005 Richard won The Vintners’ Cup awarded by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust—Hamblin commented that, as a food lover, he sees his future in the food on-trade, but in a very wine-orientated fashion.

Richard left London in 2011 to move to Bristol with his family where he managed 3 separate restaurant sites including the Glassboat and Spyboat restaurants and the restaurant and bar at Clifton Lido Turnover in excess of £4mill per annum, responsible for 100+ employees.

In 2013 Richard moved to open the Bar & Grill at Hauser & Wirth, Somerset.
