Ribes cynosbati is a North American species of shrubs in the currant family. It native to eastern and central United States and Canada, with several common names including prickly gooseberry, eastern prickly gooseberry, dogberry, dog bramble, and groseillier des chiens (in Québec). It grows in rich forests, rocky slopes, and open heaths from New Brunswick south along the Appalachian Mountains to northern Alabama and west as far as Manitoba, the Dakotas and Oklahoma.

Ribes cynosbati attains a height of up to 150 cm (5 feet), with erect to spreading stems. Leaves have 3 or 5 lobes, with glandular hairs. Flowers are greenish-white, and the bristly fruits white to greenish and pleasant-tasting.
