Results breakdown of the European Parliament election in Spain, 2014

This is the regional results breakdown of the European Parliament election held in Spain on 25 May 2014, showing results in each of the country's 17 autonomous communities as well as in the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla.

Electoral system

The electoral system for European Parliament elections in Spain was regulated under the Organic Law 5/1985, of 19 June, of the General Electoral System. The Spanish national territory comprised a single multi-member constituency, being allocated 54 seats as per the Treaty of Lisbon. For the election of MEPs, the D'Hondt method and a closed list proportional representation was used. No threshold was applied in order to be entitled to enter seat distribution.

Voting was on the basis of universal suffrage, with all nationals and European citizens over eighteen and in the full enjoyment of all political rights entitled to vote. Parties, coalitions and groups of electors were required to obtain the signatures of at least 15,000 registered electors in order to be able to field candidates. However, parties and coalitions could replace this requirement with the signatures of at least 50 elected officials—deputies, senators, MEPs or members from the legislative assemblies of autonomous communities or from local city councils—.
