Chris Orrick, better known by his stage name Red Pill, is an American rapper and lyricist from Detroit, Michigan. After starting his career collaborating with Michigan music collective BLAT! Pack, in 2010 he released his debut album Please Tip Your Driver to a positive reception. The album was followed by a number of collaborations and the EP Dream Within a Dream in 2012, and the album The Kick in 2013. According to HipHopDX, The Kick documented "relatable topics to anyone with everyday problems."

In 2013, rapper Verbal Kent, Red Pill and producer Apollo Brown formed the group Ugly Heroes, and they released their self-titled debut in May 2013 through Mello Music Group. PopMatters called the album "one of the better hip-hop records of 2013." Red Pill's solo album Look What This World Did To Us was released on April 7, 2015 through Mello Music Group. The album was generally well-received, with Exclaim! opining that the lyrics "range from deeply intimate, to unflinchingly grim, to hilariously self-deprecating, often in the same bar."
