Ramón López de Osornio (1685-1750s) was a Spanish landowner and soldier in the Río de la Plata during the Viceroyalty of Peru.

Biography

Born on August 31, 1685, in Buenos Aires Ramón López de Osornio was the second son of Francisco López Osornio and Tomasa Merlo. Some sources indicate that Lopez de Osornio family were descendants of the Dukes of Normandy. Osornio married Margarita Sosa, the daughter of landowners of the northwest of the Province of Buenos Aires.

Osornio inherited from his parents some hectares of land and had his ranch in the town of Magdalena. He was a captain of militia in the Province of Buenos Aires.

Ramón López de Osornio was the uncle of Clemente López de Osornio and the uncle and godfather of Casimiro Alegre.
