The R550 is a Regional Route in South Africa. Its western terminus is an interchange with the N12, just south of Soweto, Gauteng. The route initially runs south, to Lenasia and then heads east. It crosses the R553 and passes over the N1. At a fourway intersection, the eastbound road becomes the R550. It is then cosigned with the intersecting R82, but branches off again just to the north. It heads east-north-east now, crossing the R556 and entering Alberton. In Alberton, it passes over the R59 highway and reaches the R103. It becomes co-signed with it, heading east-south-east meeting the N3 at an interchange in Katlehong. It passes through the southern part of Germiston and the meets the R23. It is briefly cosigned with it, heading north to form an interchange with the N17. On the other side of that highway, it leaves the R23 to go through Brakpan and then Springs where it reaches its eastern terminus at a junction with the R51.
