Río Colorado is a town and municipality in the Río Negro Province of Argentina. It is the administrative centre of the Pichi Mahuida Department.

Population
According to the 2010 census [INDEC], the municipality 13,828 inhabitants, an increase of 0.12% compared to the 2001 census [INDEC] which recorded a population of 12,900.
Climate
Río Colorado has a semi-arid climate (Köppen climate classification BSk). Winters are cool with a July mean of 7.4 °C (45.3 °F), with temperatures that frequently drop below 0 °C (32.0 °F) and occasionally below −10 °C (14.0 °F). Cloudy days are common during winter, averaging 7-8 days from June to August. Spring and fall are transition seasons that feature average maximum temperatures of 18 to 28 °C (64.4 to 82.4 °F) and an average minimum of 4 to 12 °C (39.2 to 53.6 °F) although temperatures can reach as high as 40.2 °C (104.4 °F) and low as −8.5 °C (16.7 °F) during these seasons. Summers are hot, dry, and sunny with an average maximum of 30 to 32 °C (86.0 to 89.6 °F) and an average minimum of 14 to 15 °C (57.2 to 59.0 °F). Precipitation is low, averaging 423.9 millimetres (17 in) which is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. Rio Colorado averages about 2,683.8 hours of bright sunshine per year (approximately 7.4 hours of sunshine per day) or about 58.7 % of possible sunshine ranging from a high of 71.5 % in February to a low of only 38.0% in June. The highest temperature recorded was 42.8 °C (109.0 °F) while the lowest temperature recorded was −12.3 °C (9.9 °F).
